2.6 Console Alarm Handling

The AccessPoint Console client ("acsterm"), monitors the contents of the AccessPoint Alarm List. The contents of the Alarm List is processed by the Console and presented to the user in the form of Alarm Windows whose configuration is specified by a file named "almwin.cfg". (A graphical user interface ("almwin.tcl") is now available to assist the user in configuration of "almwin.cfg").

Alarm Windows present the user with a visual indication of a change in the Alarm List.

Many configuration options are provided to the user including the option to monitor the Alarm List by Alarm Zones as specified by associated GS lists.

A recent addition to the Console's alarm handling capability is that the Console may "beep" the local computer's (terminal) bell to provide an audible indication of an unacknowledged alarm in a specified Alarm Zone.

Note:
In actual fact, the Console executable is doing (what amounts to) a "printf" of the ASCII "BEL" (control-G) character to the terminal to which the "DISPLAY" is directed.
